Researcher of film, culture, and gender. Her work draws on post-colonial, decolonial, and feminist theories, focusing on cinema, women’s representation, and Central Asian intellectual history. In addition to her research, she is a literary translator and film curator, mentors emerging film critics, and writes in Kazakh, Russian, and English.
