John Donne (1572–1631) was a prominent English poet and the dean of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Donne is considered one of the greatest poets of the metaphysical school. His literary legacy encompasses celebrated love poetry, remarkable religious verse, treatises, and sermons.
